Welcome to the first chapter of my year-long experiment—a journey toward self-discovery, personal growth, and enhanced well-being. In sharing this experience, my goal is to foster understanding, inspire curiosity, and continue my commitment to learning more about myself.
Life, in general, offers us vast possibilities. We each have the possibility to achieve happiness in our own right but it takes work. As I look forward to 2024 and beyond I want to commit to experimenting with the different possibilities. I want to commit myself to not getting complacent. Through different thought and health experiments I hope to learn more about myself and how I can continue to work towards a more fulfilling life.
As with any experiment, there are complications to navigate. I’ve faced moments when the pursuit of instant gratification clashed with the long-term vision I hold for my life. My desire is to understand the role my habits have on my overall wellbeing.
Realizing that “only I can make myself happy” became a mantra—a powerful acknowledgment that I hold the key to my own transformation. This turning point was marked by an aspiration to consciously shape a life that resonates with my authentic self.
My mindset is one of exploration and growth. In this context, the habits I pursue will be tools for self-discovery not rigid commitments. It’s about regaining agency over my choices, understanding the impact of my choices on my well-being, and making informed decisions that contribute to a richer, more intentional life.
Success, in this experiment, isn’t a one-size-fits-all definition. It’s about the small victories—the moments of clarity, the evenings of peaceful reflection, and the ongoing effort to redefine what success means in the context of my unique journey.
I understand the power of community, and that’s why I’m sharing this experience with you. I invite you to join me, whether you’re on a similar path or simply curious about the process. 2024 Aspirations
I’ve come to learn through my work in program management that setting clear goals at the onset of a program can be critical to achieving success. How do you know what success is unless you set the goal post? I’ve broken down my goals below to align with the calendar year. I want to read one book a month, go to a new restaurant with Dana once a month, write a blog post once a week, establish a healthy workout regiment, and finally want to put my Open Water Scuba certification to use.
In addition to my 52 weekly blog posts I plan on doing quarterly reviews to reflect on my progress toward this goals and make any necessary adjustments.
