TL;DR: If you’re intrigued by meditation, “Wherever You Go, There You Are” is essential reading. It profoundly shifted my perspective on meditation.
I picked up this book after reading about it in an interview with Rick Rubin. The book was accessible and something I’m likely to revisit. Intriguingly, while it deepened my appreciation for meditation, it also paused my daily practice. This made me think about what I was truly trying to achieve through my practice. I was seeking happiness and a deeper appreciation for life’s complexities, not just transcendent moments. Understanding this, I found new ways to cultivate mindfulness beyond traditional meditation, enriching my presence in everyday life.
This introspection led me to rethink not just my meditation, but my overall approach to spirituality and philosophy.
My updated reading list will focus on these two subjects. I’m finding that the books I’m reading are often littered with quotes from other works. This is naturally creating a learning path that I plan to follow.
